New Performance Insights on the Huawei Mate 90 Pro Max with Kirin 9050 Pro

Huawei unveiled its latest Mate 90 series smartphones, including the powerful Pro Max and RS models, showcasing the innovative Kirin 9050 Pro chipset. While the company kept many details under wraps during the launch, a recent performance test on Geekbench has shed light on the capabilities of this new SoC.

The Mate 90 Pro Max (CMM-AL10) recorded an average of 1,317 points in the single-core test and 5,381 points in the multi-core test on Geekbench 7. The maximum scores observed so far stand at 1,528 for single-core and 6,169 for multi-core. This indicates that the CPU performance of the Kirin 9050 Pro falls between the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 from 2021 and its successor, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2.

Kirin 9050 Pro Specifications

Information from Geekbench indicates that the Kirin 9050 Pro is constructed with a nine-core CPU architecture, featuring a Prime “ultra” core clocked at 3.1GHz. This is supplemented by 6 performance cores running at 2.7GHz and 2.2GHz, along with 2 efficiency cores operating at 1.75GHz. The SoC also includes a Maleoon 955 GPU with six cores clocked at 1.05 GHz.

According to a report from Bernstein Research, the Kirin 9050 Pro is manufactured on a 7nm class process node using SMIC's N+2 or N+3 technology. While these details remain unverified by Huawei, they provide insight into the capabilities of this new chipset.
