Xiaomi has just launched its latest flagship smartphones, the Xiaomi 18 Pro and Xiaomi 18 Pro Max, marking their entry into the market with Qualcomm’s cutting-edge Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 chips. With enhanced privacy displays, larger battery capacities, and useful rear screens, these devices aim to cater to users looking for both performance and unique features.

The 18 Pro series not only boasts the latest chipset but also incorporates larger batteries, upgraded telephoto cameras, and continues the tradition of featuring rear displays seen in previous models. However, Xiaomi has taken these additions a step further with new AI functionalities that enhance the user experience.
With the help of Xiaomi’s Xiao AI assistant, users can now develop their own mini apps for the rear screen, which include features like a hydration reminder, an egg cooking timer, and a recipe suggestion tool. This rear panel has been designed not only for functionality but also as a unique viewfinder for the device's high-quality triple rear cameras.
As for the camera specifications, both the 18 Pro and Pro Max come equipped with a remarkable triple lens setup. This includes a 200MP main camera (Light Hunter 960) with a large sensor and a 200MP periscope telephoto lens that offers 3.2x optical zoom, alongside a 50MP ultrawide lens that covers a 102-degree field of view.
In terms of displays, both models employ high-end LTPO AMOLED panels with a 2K resolution, delivering smooth visuals with a refresh rate ranging from 1Hz to 120Hz. The 18 Pro features a 6.4-inch display while the Pro Max has a 6.9-inch option. Both displays can reach a peak brightness of 4,000 nits and are protected by Xiaomi's Dragon Crystal Glass 3.
A standout feature of the Xiaomi 18 Pro series is its hardware-level privacy screen technology, designed to prevent prying eyes from viewing the screen from an angle. This privacy solution outperforms that of competitors, including Samsung's Galaxy S26 Ultra, by allowing context-sensitive triggers to block notifications and floating windows, ensuring user information remains secure. Accessibility to this feature is seamless via a dedicated AI button on the device.
Both the 18 Pro and Pro Max see improved battery life as well, with the former sporting a 7,000mAh battery (11% larger) and the latter featuring an 8,500mAh battery (13% larger). Charging options include 100W wired, 50W wireless, and 27W reverse wireless capabilities. They also come pre-installed with Xiaomi HyperOS 4 and boast IP69 ingress protection.

The starting price for the Xiaomi 18 Pro is CNY 5,999 ($895), while the 18 Pro Max starts at CNY 6,999 ($1,045) for the 12GB/256GB model. A global launch is expected to follow later this year.
