Xiaomi, a trailblazer in the smartphone and now automotive industry, has successfully launched its latest family-oriented electric vehicles, the SkyNomad series. Within just four minutes of opening pre-orders, the company recorded over 10,000 non-refundable orders, demonstrating the immense demand for practical yet innovative vehicles that cater to modern family needs.
Driven by an ambitious vision, Xiaomi has now delivered more than 800,000 vehicles in less than two and a half years. As it aims for 550,000 annual deliveries by 2026, the need for diverse, mass-market vehicles is clearer than ever. As of August, Xiaomi had delivered 216,322 vehicles this year, signifying only 44.8% of its annual target with just months left to close the gap.
With an urgency to ramp up production, Xiaomi has expanded beyond pure electric vehicles, introducing an extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) platform. Despite a recent decline in EREV sales in China, family buyers are returning to options that promise electric efficiency with the extended convenience of traditional fuel.
The SkyNomad family offers multiple models, starting with the five-seat N70 Pro at RMB 209,900 (approximately €26,430). The N70 Max, with enhanced performance, is priced at RMB 239,900, while the full-size three-row N90 Max starts at RMB 269,900. For adventurous families, the N90 Max Explorer Edition is available at RMB 299,900, bringing an innovative camping solution to the market.
The N70 Pro features a front-mounted electric motor with a 52-kWh LFP battery, providing 351 km of electric range and a total of 1,351 km with petrol assistance. The upgraded N70 Max boasts a dual-motor setup, faster acceleration, and a larger 76-kWh battery for longer electric range.
The N90 Max targets luxury with more power and room, achieving a combined range of 1,705 km and quick charging capabilities. Xiaomi’s pricing strategy also places it competitively against established players like Li Auto, drawing in budget-conscious buyers without compromising on features.
Key innovative features across the models include a central 16.1-inch display, a versatile motorized center island, and luxurious seating with massage and swivel capabilities. The N90 Max Explorer Edition elevates camping experiences with its pop-top roof for additional sleeping space.
The vehicles are equipped with advanced autonomous driving technology powered by top-of-the-line processors and sensors. Xiaomi stands out with its dedication to battery safety, exemplified by its "Dragonscale" battery and a lifetime warranty policy for first-time owners, reinforcing trust with consumers.
