Introducing the Xiaomi 18 Fold: A New Era in Foldable Smartphones

Xiaomi has officially launched the highly anticipated Xiaomi 18 Fold, marking its entry into the world of wide-format foldable smartphones. This release comes just two days ahead of Apple's exciting new smartphone, the iPhone Ultra. The Xiaomi 18 Fold boasts a striking cherry red color option—a hue reminiscent of rumors surrounding Apple's model.

However, where the similarities fade is in performance and specifications. Powered by the cutting-edge Xring O3 SoC, the Xiaomi 18 Fold comes with options of 12GB or 16GB of RAM, along with storage capacities of 256GB, 512GB, or a whopping 1TB. It's worth noting that 16GB models utilize LPDDR6 RAM, while the 12GB version features LPDDR5X.

The device features an impressive 7.58-inch folding screen with a resolution of 2364x1672 and a cover display measuring 5.38 inches at 1168x1712. Both displays support a fast 120Hz refresh rate, have a 2:1 aspect ratio, and can reach peak brightness levels of up to 4,000 nits. The cover screen is protected by the robust Xiaomi Shield Glass 3.0.

Photography enthusiasts will appreciate the remarkable 200MP main camera, equipped with Samsung's ISOCELL HP5 sensor. Additionally, the camera array includes a 50MP periscope telephoto lens capable of 3.5x optical zoom, 7x lossless zoom, and a 50MP ultrawide camera, complemented by a 16MP selfie camera on both displays.

Fueled by a robust 6,000 mAh battery with 20% silicon content, the Xiaomi 18 Fold supports fast charging of up to 67W via wired and 50W through wireless charging. The device operates on HyperOS 4, based on Android 17, featuring a side-mounted fingerprint scanner integrated into the power button and stereo speakers enhanced with Dolby Atmos technology.

The Xiaomi 18 Fold is available in four color options: black, red, "Warm Gold," and a premium ceramic special edition. When folded, its dimensions are 117.8 x 83.6 x 10.68 mm, while the unfolded dimensions measure 117.8 x 163.8 x 5.02 mm, weighing in at just 219 grams.

The pricing structure is as follows: the 12/256GB variant is priced at CNY 10,999 ($1,638), the 12/512GB version at CNY 11,999 ($1,787), the 16/512GB variant at CNY 12,999 ($1,936), and the 16GB/1TB option at CNY 14,999 ($2,234). The exclusive ceramic special edition, featuring 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage, is priced at CNY 15,999 ($2,383). Unfortunately, the Xiaomi 18 Fold will only be available for purchase within China.
