Upcoming Motorola Wide Foldable Smartphone: Design Revealed

As the competition in the foldable smartphone market heats up, Motorola is making its move with an upcoming wide foldable device. Following the recent launches from major players like Samsung and Xiaomi, anticipation builds surrounding Motorola's entry into this innovative category. While details remain sparse, early design sketches have provided a glimpse of what to expect.

Samsung kicked off this trend with the release of the Galaxy Z Fold8 in July, and in August, Huawei unveiled the Pura X View. Xiaomi is set to launch its wide foldable, the Xiaomi 18 Fold, on September 7. According to a report from Android Headlines, Motorola is also set to join the foldable race this year.

While the name of Motorola's wide foldable is yet to be revealed, the sketches showcase two distinct design options. Both configurations feature a camera island on the back with three cutouts. However, one design includes an additional cutout outside the camera island, while the other keeps all cutouts contained within. It remains a mystery whether these cutouts are solely for cameras or if one serves a different function, such as a flash or secondary sensor.

The design sketches indicate that the Motorola wide foldable will boast a bezel-less aesthetic, an "easy-open profile," and an "ultra-slim housing" accompanied by a "creaseless display." Additionally, the back panel will showcase a luxurious 3D glass finish, and the camera island will offer a touch of sophistication with "metal decoration."

More details can be gleaned from the sketches, revealing the Motorola branding on the hinge, a selfie camera positioned in the top-right corner of the folding display, and an outer display with a centered punch-hole selfie camera.

According to sources, Motorola's wide foldable is anticipated to launch "in the coming months."
