Nissan's Upcoming EV: A Sneak Peek at the Renault Twingo-inspired Wave

Nissan is gearing up to introduce its latest electric vehicle, the Wave, which is set to be based on the highly anticipated Renault Twingo. Currently, the car is undergoing rigorous testing in southern Europe, sporting a significant amount of camouflage to keep its design under wraps.

The Nissan Wave is expected to make its debut next year, with a starting price anticipated to be under €20,000. Positioned as a rival not only to the Twingo but also to electric models such as the Leapmotor T03 and the FIAT 500, this compact EV aims to capture the growing interest in the small electric vehicle segment.

With dimensions smaller than the new Micra, the Wave is designed to occupy a niche below it in Nissan's range. While there is currently no confirmation regarding its availability outside of Europe, indications suggest that it will be offered in the European market.

The electric vehicle is powered by a 27.5 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery and will feature a single electric motor generating 60 kW (approximately 82 hp). The Wave is expected to provide a competitive WLTP-rated range of 250 km. Notably, production is set to take place at Renault's facility in Novo Mesto, Slovenia, ensuring close collaboration in manufacturing between the two automotive giants.
