The smartphone market has seen significant fluctuations in sales; however, Apple’s iPhone 17 continues to shine as a standout performer. According to a recent report from Counterpoint Research, the iPhone 17 has maintained its status as the world’s best-selling smartphone for the second consecutive quarter of 2026, further solidifying Apple’s lead in the global market.
In the latest data released, the iPhone 17 accounted for an impressive 6% of all global smartphone unit sales in Q2 2026. Apple also dominated the top 10 list, securing five places with its other models.
Following the iPhone 17 in popularity were the iPhone 17 Pro Max and iPhone 17 Pro, which ranked second and third, respectively. Additionally, the iPhone 17e and the previous generation iPhone 16 found their way into the top 10 sales list.
On the Android front, the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra proudly claimed the top position among non-Apple smartphones. Samsung managed to place four other models in the top 10, showcasing the brand's strength in the competitive market.
The report highlights substantial sales growth for Apple in key markets such as India, Japan, and parts of the Middle East and Africa, with South Korean sales nearly doubling compared to previous quarters. Despite a broader decline of 11% in the overall smartphone market, Apple and Samsung together captured 26% of global smartphone sales, up from the previous year.
