Samsung Wallet Enhances Convenience with Digital Key Feature for Volkswagen Electric Vehicles
In an exciting development for electric vehicle enthusiasts, Samsung has officially introduced Digital Key support within Samsung Wallet for a selection of Volkswagen’s electric models. This new functionality allows users to access their vehicles conveniently using their compatible Samsung Galaxy smartphones, enhancing the driving experience with advanced technology.
The newly launched feature supports Digital Key access for several Volkswagen electric vehicles, including the ID. Polo, ID. Cross, ID.3neo, ID.4, ID.5, ID.7, and ID. Buzz. This rollout is currently taking place in Europe and is compatible with vehicles running ID. software version 6.0.1, specifically those manufactured on or after April 27, 2026, provided they include the "Preparation for Digital Key" package.
With this feature, drivers can effortlessly lock, unlock, and start their cars without ever needing a physical key. The integration of UWB technology allows hands-free entry, while NFC facilitates tap-based unlocking and engine starting. Additional functionalities include Remote Key Entry for opening the trunk.
Samsung Wallet also offers a sharing capability for Digital Keys, enabling users to grant trusted individuals temporary access to their vehicles with specific permissions. This feature is particularly useful for allowing friends and family short-term access when needed.
Committed to security, Samsung assures that its Digital Keys comply with the EAL6+ certification standards, providing robust protection against unauthorized access. The keys are securely stored on the device and are backed by Samsung Knox. In case of loss or theft of the smartphone, users can easily manage or revoke access to their Digital Key using Samsung Find.
