Spotify Introduces Playlist Notes Feature to Enhance User Engagement

Source: Date:

Spotify is on a roll with feature expansions, enhancing user interaction and providing deeper insights into its curated content. Following the launch of User Notes, the streaming giant now introduces Playlist Notes—designed to offer listeners a behind-the-scenes look at their favorite playlists.

Playlist Notes will be utilized by Spotify’s dedicated global team of playlist editors to articulate the rationale behind song selections—explaining why certain tracks made the cut and what cultural significance they hold.

To access this insightful feature, users can navigate to one of Spotify's major playlists and click the Notes button located at the top. However, it's important to note that this feature is accessible only to listeners aged 16 and over in specific regions, including the US, Canada, the UK, Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand. Currently, there's no information on when it might be available in other areas.

Introducing Playlist Notes on Spotify

In addition to learning about playlist curators, users can explore the profiles of these editors by selecting their names within the playlist view, leading to the Editor Profile.

But that’s not all—Spotify also empowers users to contribute their own notes. On mobile devices, simply click the three dots next to a track and select “Add note” from the menu. This personal note will then be displayed under the specific track. This feature is available on both Android and iOS across over 100 regions, making it more widely accessible than the editor notes feature.

Personalizing Your Listening Experience

Users can jot down thoughts or reminders about their favorite tracks, which may be especially useful for audiobooks and podcasts on Spotify. These notes can serve as a personal commentary on what listeners have engaged with, but remember that these entries will be visible to anyone you've shared your playlist with.
