Introduction
Recent leaks suggest significant changes in the upcoming flagship offerings from Xiaomi, Vivo, and Oppo. With the cancellation of the highly anticipated Xiaomi 18 Ultra, many are left questioning the future of Ultra models from these brands, particularly concerning their global availability. This article delves into the latest rumors surrounding these smartphones and what it means for consumers globally.
The Xiaomi 18 Ultra, which was rumored to debut in December this year, has reportedly been cancelled. According to a new leak, Xiaomi will launch only three smartphones as part of its upcoming 18 series.
In a post on X, tipster Kartikey Singh claims that Xiaomi will not launch an 18 Ultra this year. Instead, the Xiaomi 18 Pro Max will take the top spot in the company’s flagship lineup.
However, this does not necessarily indicate that Xiaomi has abandoned the Ultra model altogether; there may be a successor to the Xiaomi 17 Ultra slated for release next year. The company could be skipping the Ultra variant this year due to rising costs associated with memory and storage.
In addition to Xiaomi’s cancellation, the tipster also suggests that both Vivo and Oppo will restrict their upcoming Ultra smartphones solely to the Chinese market.
While the Vivo X300 Ultra and Oppo Find X9 Ultra previously launched in global markets, their successors—the Vivo X500 Ultra and Oppo Find X10 Ultra—may not see the same international release if these rumors hold true.
Vivo has historically limited its Ultra models to the Chinese market, but this policy shifted with the Vivo X300 Ultra, which enjoyed a broader global launch.
If these claims prove accurate, the decision to keep upcoming Ultra phones confined to China will likely disappoint eager users in other markets who were anticipating new releases.
