Previous discussions hinted that the Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra might boast a cutting-edge 200MP main camera with a variable aperture, likely influenced by rumors surrounding Apple's iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max featuring similar technology. However, according to a new report from Korea, Samsung has chosen not to implement a variable aperture on any device in the Galaxy S27 lineup.

The reported reasoning behind this decision includes the increased manufacturing costs associated with such technology and concerns regarding the thickness of the camera bumps on the devices. Samsung concluded that the advantages of a variable aperture did not justify the extra expenses, particularly as smartphone manufacturers are currently facing rising DRAM costs.
Notably, Samsung had previously experimented with variable apertures in its Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S10 models in 2018 and 2019. However, this feature did not make a lasting impression and was phased out in subsequent releases.
