During its recent Unpacked event in London, Samsung unveiled the Galaxy Watch9 and Galaxy Watch Ultra2, both of which will receive five major OS upgrades and five years of security updates, as confirmed by the company.

The watches will be released on August 7, operating on Wear OS 7 with Samsung's One UI 9 Watch interface. Previous models of the Galaxy Watch offered four major OS upgrades and four years of security updates, a promise Samsung has chosen not to revise. Therefore, for maximum support longevity, consumers should consider purchasing one of the latest models.
The Galaxy Watch Ultra2 features a 1.52-inch Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 498x498, an impressive peak brightness of 5,000 nits, and is protected by a sapphire crystal. It is equipped with the Snapdragon Wear Elite SoC, 2GB of RAM, and 64GB of internal storage. The watch also boasts a titanium frame and is certified IP68 and IP69K for dust and water resistance. It meets MIL-STD-810H standards and is rated for diving up to 40 meters, powered by an 800 mAh battery that supports 10W wireless charging.
The Galaxy Watch9 is available in two sizes, 40mm and 44mm, and is powered by the same processor as the Ultra2 with identical RAM specifications, but it has 32GB of storage. The smaller model features a 1.34-inch Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 438x438 and a 390 mAh battery, while the larger model has a 1.47-inch Super AMOLED screen with a resolution of 480x480 and a 445 mAh battery. Both devices offer a peak brightness of 3,000 nits and support 10W wireless charging.
