The RedMagic Astra 2 was initially released in China in late June under the name "Gaming Tablet 5 Pro." Now, international users can also purchase this device with the same design and hardware specifications available in China.
This tablet features a 9.06-inch LTPO OLED display with an impressive 185Hz refresh rate and a rapid touch response time, boasting an average touch sampling rate of 300Hz.
Powering the device is the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, available in configurations of either 12GB/256GB or 16GB/512GB of memory. Additionally, the RedCore R4 gaming chip enhances performance by managing framerate stability and upscaling gaming graphics.
For audio, the Astra 2 is equipped with large dual stereo speakers and dual X-axis linear vibration motors, delivering what RedMagic refers to as 4D haptic feedback.
The camera system is straightforward, featuring a 13MP rear camera and a 9MP front camera.
An 8,300 mAh battery powers the tablet, supporting 75W wired fast charging. Notably, it includes two USB-C ports: one high-speed 3.2 Gen 2 connector and one USB 2.0 port, which can be used for charging while gaming. The USB 2.0 port is conveniently located along the long side of the tablet, making it easier to plug in during landscape gameplay.
The Astra 2 operates on Redmagic OS 11.5, which is based on Android 16.
While today marks the official global launch of the tablet, sales will not start until late August. To generate interest, RedMagic is offering early bird vouchers, granting customers one-day priority access before the sales begin and include an 80W charger.

The RedMagic Astra 2 is available in two color options: Eclipse Black and Starfrost Silver, offered in both 12GB/256GB and 16GB/512GB configurations. The entry-level model is priced at $749/€699/£599, while the higher-spec version retails for $849/€799/£679.
