The outlook for the Nothing Phone (4b) appears bleak. To improve its market position, a price reduction is essential. Last week’s poll results underscore this necessity. Despite the possibility of positive reviews—though this is contingent upon its specifications—enthusiasm for the phone remains tepid.
What factors contributed to this lackluster reception? In our previous poll, we compared the (4b) to the Nothing Phone (4a), but one commenter suggested a comparison with the older Nothing Phone (3a), further complicating the (4b)’s standing.

Several concerns are noted: slow and non-expandable storage, a relatively underwhelming chipset, limited to three OS updates, a smaller camera sensor, and, importantly, the pricing.
Many consumers are shifting their interest towards the (4a), especially since the price difference is often minimal. In some cases, promo offers make the difference negligible, particularly for the discounted 12/256GB variant.
In fact, the (4a) boasts a 12/256GB option, while the (4b) is predominantly available in an 8/128GB configuration, with the exception of an 8/256GB variant offered in India, which also features a larger 6,000mAh battery compared to the 5,200mAh battery available elsewhere. Here’s the price comparison from our last report, excluding any discounts or promotions.
| Nothing Phone | (3a) Lite | (4b) | (4a) |
|---|---|---|---|
| EU | €250 | €330 | €350 |
| UK | £250 | £300 | £380 |
| IN | - | ₹35,000 | ₹40,000 |
Additionally, the mid-range smartphone market is crowded with devices offering superior camera quality, processing power, and battery life—factors that present a significant challenge for the (4b) based on the poll insights.
Carl Pei and his team may need to revisit their strategy. With no new flagship set for release this year and the cancellation of the CMF Phone 3 Pro, Nothing is left marketing only the Phone (4a) and (4a) Pro for the year, consequently lacking a robust launch for the (4b).
