According to a recent report, Volvo is actively exploring the possibility of launching an electric sedan and station wagon in the U.S. market, with an anticipated arrival in 2028. Both models, currently in development for Europe, should require minimal modifications for U.S. consumers.

The new models will feature either a 60 or 70 series branding and will be produced in Europe, with the wagon potentially offering a rugged Cross Country variant. They will utilize Volvo's 800V SPA3 architecture, which first appeared in the EX60.

Pricing for these cars in the U.S. is expected to start around €43,000 to €45,200. Volvo anticipates selling approximately 10,000 units annually in the U.S.

This announcement follows Volvo's recent decision to cease the sale of sedans and wagons in the U.S., shifting its focus exclusively to SUVs and crossovers. Analysts believe that the company's return to these segments could prove successful, as the new offerings may attract consumers looking for alternatives to the prevalent SUV market, positioning Volvo as a "counter-culture cool" brand.
