In April, rumors emerged that Huawei would reveal the Mate XT2 in October. Recently, a newly leaked patent for the purported tri-fold smartphone has provided insights into its potential design and folding mechanism.

The patent images, shared by renowned tipster Ice Universe on X, indicate that the Mate XT2 may feature an inward-folding design, replacing the Z-shaped folding mechanism of the Mate XT and Mate XTs.

While the folding mechanism resembles that of the Samsung Galaxy Z Trifold, it operates differently. According to the patent images, the Mate XT2 will be equipped with a cover display in addition to a large flexible inner screen, distinguishing it from its predecessors.

The images also depict a circular camera module located on the middle panel, with the cover display situated on the right panel. The left panel is designed to fold inward first, followed by the right panel.

Regarding specifications, recent rumors suggest the Huawei Mate XT2 will be powered by the Kirin 9050 Pro chipset and will feature a battery exceeding 6,000mAh. Additionally, it is expected to include a triple rear camera setup akin to that of the Huawei Mate X7.
