A new trade agreement between Canada and China has paved the way for Chinese automotive manufacturers to enter the Canadian market. This agreement reduces the 100% tariff on imported Chinese vehicles to just 6.1% for up to 49,000 cars by 2027. While companies like BYD, Chery, and Geely have already begun planning their entry, Dongfeng is the latest manufacturer to join the fray.

Dongfeng will debut its premium Voyah brand alongside its standard offerings. Recently, the company visited Montreal and invited local journalists to preview some of its vehicles.
The Nammi Box and Vigo are set to be the first Dongfeng vehicles available in Canada, with North World Industry acting as the official distributor. Both models are currently undergoing homologation.

The Nammi Box is a compact hatchback, while the Vigo is classified as a small crossover, both featuring a single-motor front-wheel-drive setup. The Nammi Box delivers 94 horsepower and is equipped with a 42.3 kWh battery, providing a WLTP-rated range of 319 kilometers. Meanwhile, the Vigo offers a larger 51.87 kWh battery, enabling a range of 340 kilometers and a more powerful 181-horsepower motor.
Both models are anticipated to be available for under CAD 35,000, making them highly competitive in the Canadian market.
