According to a report by The Information, Anthropic and Samsung are in the initial stages of negotiating a deal in which the South Korean technology giant would manufacture custom AI chips for Anthropic.

The growing demand for semiconductors, largely driven by the surge in AI technologies, has prompted many companies to seek alternatives to TSMC for chip production. Prior to the AI boom, both Samsung and Intel faced challenges within their chip divisions. However, recent shifts in the industry have been beneficial for both companies. For instance, Apple is reportedly reconsidering Intel as a chip supplier, while Samsung is reportedly engaged in discussions with Apple as well.
While Anthropic has reassured its existing partners that its data centers will continue utilizing Amazon's Titanium chips, Google's Tensor Processing Units (TPUs), and Nvidia's GPUs for the immediate future, the company recognizes the necessity of developing its own hardware to enhance its computational capabilities and support its growth. Similarly, OpenAI is in talks with Broadcom regarding its own chip development.
