Unboxing Experience
The package includes the device itself, a magnetic back clip for easy attachment to clothing or bags, and other accessories to enhance usability. An armband strap allows for secure placement on your arm.
The Xlink 7 comes with a comprehensive set of accessories.
Included is a small tracker-like wireless remote that activates the Xlink 7’s push-to-talk feature remotely. You can attach this remote to a bike handle or skiing gloves using the provided Velcro straps for convenient communication. It runs on a single CR1620 battery, which is also included.

Additionally, a bright orange lanyard, a braided USB-C to USB-C cable, and a global IoT (Internet of Things) nanoSIM card come with our version, granting the Xlink 7 access to any supported 4G/LTE network worldwide. The bundled SIM remains valid for 12 months after its first use.

Design Overview
The Xlink 7 embodies Ulefone’s distinctive design style, featuring a boxy octagonal shape with dimensions slightly exceeding 63mm in height and nearly 52mm in width. While the footprint compares to that of some larger earbud cases, the Xlink 7 is noticeably heavier at 84 grams, providing a solid feel when attached to a backpack.

The device's body is primarily plastic, enhanced with rubber and metal components. The four buttons are metallic, while the volume rocker is plastic. Rubber seals secure the SIM card and USB-C ports.

Our review units arrived in Sand Dune color, though a Sports Black option is also available.
The front features a glossy plastic finish, with the push-to-talk button positioned above the speaker. The bottom houses an LED flashlight that can be activated by long-pressing the Action Button.
Hardware and Features
Beyond its rugged appearance, the Xlink 7 functions primarily as a communication device for outdoor environments.
Its toughness is impressive, achieving IP68 certification for water submersion (up to 1.5 meters for 30 minutes) and IP69K ratings for high-pressure water jets. During several hours of hiking deep in the mountains, the Xlink 7 demonstrated its durability.

A dip into a cool creek posed no challenges for the device, nor did it suffer from incidental impacts with branches or rocks. RugOne claims the Xlink 7 can withstand extreme temperatures, operating safely in conditions ranging from -30°C to +55°C.
The metal buttons are satisfying to press, and the volume rocker is easy to operate. The centralized push-to-talk button is also user-friendly, and the microphone effectively captures voice audio, even amid ambient noise from fellow hikers.
Xlink 7 profile
While lacking a display, the Xlink 7 features sound feedback; it emits beeps or responses upon button presses. The AI button allows full control over device functions and offers information such as weather forecasts, navigation tips, and answers to basic questions.
Seven status LEDs provide vital information, including connectivity status, battery level, Bluetooth activity, and volume. The status indicator remains solid during transmission and flashes when receiving messages. It blinks red when the battery drops below 20% or when there's no available network.
The included SIM card enables constant connectivity wherever you go, provided there's a cellular signal. Unlike consumer SIMs, the global IoT SIM card connects to multiple carriers, ensuring seamless network access without incurring roaming fees overseas.

The emergency SOS function is a crucial feature for those who may find themselves lost or in jeopardy. Rapidly pressing the action button five times activates a loud siren through the speaker, while the device contacts emergency contacts and shares your real-time location.
During our hike, connectivity performed exceptionally well, with cellular service even at higher altitudes, although results may vary based on proximity to cell towers. A group call feature facilitates real-time communication with up to two other Xlink 7 users for up to 30 minutes.
Xlink 7 attached to a backpack
The Xlink app is accessible on both iOS and Android devices, allowing users to control some additional features such as locating the last visible position of the Xlink 7 and replaying voice messages or group calls directly on your phone.
The Xlink 7 is equipped with a 1,050mAh battery, with RugOne claiming a standby time of up to 87 hours and talk time of around 10 hours.
Conclusion
Our initial expectations for the Xlink 7 were exceeded; it became an invaluable companion on our hiking excursions. Its dependable cellular connectivity kept us linked throughout the trip, providing peace of mind in case of emergencies.

The rugged and waterproof design withstood various encounters with natural elements and even a water dip without compromising performance. The built-in AI assistant provided accurate updates throughout our hike. Moreover, the included accessories integrated seamlessly with our hiking gear.
While the necessity of a dedicated communicator like this varies based on individual lifestyles, avid hikers and outdoor enthusiasts will find the Xlink 7 essential for maintaining connectivity with their group.

The Xlink 7 also holds appeal for skiers, cyclists, climbers, and water sports participants, particularly due to its GPS capabilities, which enhance safety measures for retrieving lost equipment.
