Apple has announced that the Apple Sports app, introduced in 2024, is now available for download from the App Store in over 170 countries and regions following its expansion into 90 new markets.

To enhance the experience for fans, Apple is simplifying the process of following the FIFA World Cup 2026, which begins on June 11. Users can explore tournament groupings and customize their scoreboards by following either the entire tournament or their favorite national teams within the Apple Sports app.

When users follow a team in the app, Live Activities are enabled, allowing updates to be displayed on their iPhone's Lock Screen or Apple Watch. Additionally, users can add widgets to the Home Screens of their iPhones, iPads, and MacBooks to monitor the progress of the FIFA World Cup 2026 in real time.

Furthermore, users of the Apple Sports app can tap once to switch to Apple TV and find live matches on connected streaming services during the World Cup.
