In October of last year, Samsung announced its collaboration with Google, Gentle Monster, and Warby Parker to develop AI-powered smart glasses. Now, at Google I/O 2026, the companies have provided the first official look at this Android XR-compatible wearable.
The AI smart glasses will be offered in two unique designs: one from Gentle Monster and another from Warby Parker. While detailed hardware specifications remain undisclosed, several key features of the glasses have been highlighted.

According to Google and Samsung, the AI glasses will run on Android XR, providing hands-free access to Gemini through voice commands. Users can expect features such as turn-by-turn navigation, exploring nearby locations, and receiving personalized recommendations in real time.
Additionally, the glasses will include various productivity tools, such as placing orders, viewing summarized message notifications, and creating calendar events.

The Android XR glasses will also facilitate real-time translation in conversations. Their built-in camera and AI capabilities allow for instant translation of text and signs. Furthermore, the camera can capture photos and videos.
Similar to other smart glasses available today, this new device serves as a companion to a smartphone.
While the specific hardware details are still pending, official images indicate that the glasses will feature a single camera and an LED indicator light.
The AI-powered smart glasses from Samsung and Google are expected to launch later this fall, with further details to be unveiled in the coming months.
