Google Transforms Search: The AI Revolution Begins

Source: Date:

At today's I/O conference, Google unveiled the most significant upgrade to its search box in over 25 years, embracing artificial intelligence in the process. Following a successful year with its AI Mode, which has amassed over one billion monthly users, Google Search has been enhanced with the newly announced Gemini 3.5 Flash model, now the default for all users globally.

The revamped search box is designed to be more intuitive than ever before, dynamically expanding to provide ample space for users to articulate their needs. It anticipates user intent and suggests AI-powered questions that extend beyond standard autocomplete features.

This innovative search tool allows users to find information using text, images, files, videos, and even active Chrome tabs. The intelligent search box is rolling out today across all countries and languages that support AI Mode. Users can now ask follow-up questions based on an AI Overview, enabling seamless conversational interactions with AI Mode, available now on both desktop and mobile platforms worldwide.

This summer, Google is set to launch search agents for its AI Pro and Ultra subscribers. These agents will operate continuously in the background, keeping users updated on important information tailored to their needs. For instance, if you're searching for an apartment, simply specify your criteria, and the agents will actively scan for listings that match your requirements, notifying you when opportunities arise.

Additionally, agency-enhanced booking capabilities will expand this summer in the U.S., supporting various tasks, including local experiences and services. Google will even make calls to businesses on your behalf for certain categories, such as home repair, beauty services, or pet care.

Lastly, Google’s Personal Intelligence feature within AI Mode is set to expand further, reaching nearly 200 countries and territories in 98 languages, with no subscription required. Users can link their Gmail and Google Photos accounts, with Google Calendar integration coming soon.
