Apple has announced that the Apple Sports app, initially launched in 2024, is now accessible for download from the App Store in more than 170 countries and regions, thanks to its recent expansion into over 90 new markets.
To enhance the experience for fans following the FIFA World Cup 2026, which begins on June 11, the app allows users to explore tournament groupings and customize their scoreboards by tracking either the entire tournament or their favorite national teams.
When users follow a team within the Apple Sports app, Live Activities will be available, displaying updates on their iPhone's Lock Screen or Apple Watch. Additionally, users can add widgets to their iPhone, iPad, and MacBook Home Screens for real-time tracking of the FIFA World Cup 2026.

Furthermore, Apple Sports app users can seamlessly switch to Apple TV with a single tap to access live matches on connected streaming services throughout the World Cup.
Apple has designed several features specifically for the Apple Sports app to keep users informed and engaged during the FIFA World Cup 2026:
- Tournament Bracket View: A clean, scrollable layout displaying matchups and results for each round, helping fans easily track a team’s journey from the group stage to the final match.
- Visual Formations: Enhanced game cards include visual formations for each team’s starting lineup, providing deeper tactical insights ahead of each match.
- One-Tap Access to Apple News: Users can connect directly to Apple News for comprehensive editorial coverage, including the latest headlines.
The Apple Sports app is free to use and is compatible with all iPhone models running iOS 17.2 or later. Download it from the App Store.
