Android 17 QPR1 Beta 3 Now Available for Pixel Devices

Google has officially rolled out Android 17 QPR1 Beta 3, marking an exciting advance in its ongoing Beta program leading up to the next Pixel Feature Drop anticipated in June. If you're enrolled in the Android 17 QPR Beta program, simply navigate to Settings > System > Software updates > System update to download and install the latest update.

Versions of the Latest Beta Release

This Beta release includes two distinct versions: Version CP31.260508.005.A1, intended for the Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Pro, Pixel 6a, Pixel 7, Pixel 7 Pro, and Pixel 7a. Meanwhile, Version CP31.260508.005 is available for other Pixel models. The following devices are eligible for Android 17 QPR1 Beta 3:

Bug Fixes and Improvements

The update addresses a variety of issues enhancing overall device performance. Some notable fixes include:

  • Resolved problems of crackling or distorted audio during media playback.
  • Fixed unexpected Wi-Fi disconnections caused by false readings of connection quality.
  • Addressed the issue where home screen widgets disappeared or were unavailable post-reboot.
  • Corrected a bug where the Mobile data icon remained visible in Quick Settings after enabling Airplane mode.

New Features in Android 17 QPR1 Beta 3

This Beta version introduces an exciting "bounce-back" effect in the Quick Settings menu, adding a blur UI feature to the Power menu when accessed via long press or Quick Settings. Additionally, pulling down the Quick Settings tray now mimics the familiar "rubber-band effect" seen on iPhones, offering a more fluid user experience.

How to Opt Out of the Beta Program

If you prefer to exit the Beta program, refrain from installing Android 17 QPR1 Beta 3. To opt out, select the option to leave the Beta program, and ignore any OTA "Downgrade" updates until the stable public release of Android 17, expected next month. Please note that opting out after installing the Beta could result in a complete data wipe of your device.
