As anticipation builds for WWDC 2026, set to commence on June 8, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman has revealed several exciting updates regarding the upcoming iOS and iPadOS 27. Among the key features is a standalone Siri app, designed as a chatbot reminiscent of ChatGPT and Claude, serving as a centralized tool for various tasks. This app will retain past user conversations and aims to be ad-free while offering auto-deleting chats.

Gurman highlighted Apple’s commitment to user privacy, which has delayed the rollout of its AI assistant as the company seeks to manage user data on its own servers. The new Siri will reportedly utilize Apple Foundation Models, with Google Gemini handling more complex tasks, ensuring user data security during intensive AI processes.
Additionally, iOS 27 is expected to introduce improved system-wide AI writing tools that surpass the current Apple Intelligence offerings. Apple is currently testing a “Write With Siri” feature, positioned at the top of the keyboard, which will provide suggestions and grammar-checking functionalities.

Users will be empowered to accept or disregard typing modifications and navigate flagged text selections effortlessly. Moreover, a “Help Me Write” option will be available when Siri is activated within an open text field.
Further enhancements in iOS 27 include system-wide shortcuts utilizing natural language, AI-generated wallpapers, and various editing tools within the Photos app. The Shortcuts feature is also set to undergo a significant overhaul, allowing users to create actions based on prompts.
