Sony has announced a live event set for tomorrow, May 19, at 4 PM UTC, to showcase its latest flagship headphone series, the WH-1000X. Unlike the previous generation, the WH-1000XM6, which was released about a year ago, this new series does not aim to be a direct successor.
Current rumors suggest that the upcoming headphones will be positioned as more premium offerings, indicating that they will not replace the WH-1000XM6 but will coexist in the market.
Reports indicate a tentative price of $649, which is slightly higher than the standard WH-1000X models, along with a fresh leather design. The new headphones are expected to be named ColleXion.
In addition to the revamped design, the ColleXion headphones are anticipated to introduce a suite of premium features and enhanced hardware. Sony's commitment to these new headphones is evident, given that it has dedicated an entire event to this flagship lineup.
