Rivian has officially launched the online configurator for the highly anticipated Rivian R2. The American manufacturer currently holds over 200,000 reservations for this model. The online tool enables future owners to select their preferred features, packages, and colors, while also providing insights into when specific configurations will be delivered.

The starting price for the lineup is the Standard trim, which begins at €41,390. In its base rear-wheel-drive configuration, this model offers an estimated driving range of 555 km. For those desiring enhanced traction, an all-wheel-drive upgrade is available for an additional €3,000, which reduces the estimated range to 531 km, but allows the addition of a tow package for €811.

Next in line, the Premium trim starts at €46,090 and includes all-wheel drive as standard. For early reservation holders wishing to receive their vehicle at launch, Rivian offers the Performance trim with the Launch Package priced at €49,500. This exclusive package includes several options, such as the Autonomy+ software, the tow package, a distinctive key fob, and exclusive access to the Launch Green exterior color. A fully equipped Performance trim can reach a maximum price of €53,559.

Customizing the R2's exterior incurs additional costs and varying wait times. Silver is the only standard color that does not incur extra charges, while other paint options can add between €900 and €1,700 to the total price. Notably, Rivian will not offer the Forest Green option until late 2026, and the exclusive Borealis purple paint, available only for the Performance trim, will not be ready until 2027. This approach of charging extra for an extended wait time raises interesting sales considerations.

Inside, the R2 features a standard Dark interior theme, with an optional lighter Coastal Cloud scheme available for an additional €900 later this year, except for the base Standard trim. Wheel options differ by trim level; the Standard trim includes 19-inch wheels, with a €900 upgrade available for 20-inch bi-color carbon wheels. The Premium trim comes standard with 20-inch wheels, offering a €1,700 upgrade to 21-inch Liquid Tungsten wheels.

The Performance trim is equipped with standard 21-inch wheels, but buyers interested in off-road capabilities can opt for 20-inch Black Sand wheels with 32-inch BF Goodrich all-terrain tires for an additional €900. Rivian also offers a compact spare tire package, including a jack and wheel chocks, for €644, with dedicated storage space under the rear floor—an uncommon feature among modern SUVs.

Technological upgrades, such as the Autonomy+ package, are available for €2,100. However, Rivian is currently not including LiDAR sensors in its vehicles and has no plans for a future hardware retrofit. Production of the Rivian R2 commenced about three weeks ago at the main assembly plant in Normal, Illinois, with executives confirming efficient operations. The company anticipates producing between 20,000 and 25,000 vehicles at this facility by the end of 2026, with a second plant in Georgia under development, aiming for an annual capacity of 300,000 vehicles.
