Xiaomi 17 Ultra Leica Edition Launches Globally as Leica Leitzphone

Source: Date:

If you're curious about the international availability of the Xiaomi 17 Ultra Leica Edition (or Xiaomi 17 Ultra by Leica), we have exciting news. It has recently been confirmed for global markets through certification by Thailand's NBTC. Notably, it will be released under a new name: the Leica Leitzphone powered by Xiaomi.

Though the name may be lengthy, it makes sense considering the history of Leica. There have been three prior Leitz Phones, all exclusive to Japan, and it appears that Leica is transitioning from that series to an updated version of the Xiaomi 17 Ultra. For clarity, Ernst Leitz, the founder of Leica, inspired the company name, a combination of his surname and the word 'camera.'

The Leica Leitzphone by Xiaomi carries the model number 25128PNA1G, as confirmed by the certification. A prototype with this model number has been spotted in the Geekbench AI database, confirming it is equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 SoC, just like its Chinese counterpart, and features 16GB of RAM. It will run on Android 16 from launch, likely with Xiaomi's HyperOS 3 overlay.

Xiaomi 17 Ultra Leica Edition is headed to global markets with a different name

The Leica Edition Xiaomi 17 Ultra is priced higher than the standard Xiaomi 17 Ultra in China, and we expect this pricing strategy to continue in global markets. For reference, the Xiaomi 17 Ultra's price has recently been rumored, with an official announcement expected on February 28.
