Documents from China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) provide insights into Xiaomi's enhancements for the refreshed SU7 electric sedan. While the batteries are nearly identical in size to their predecessors, the company has significantly improved the efficiency, allowing for greater travel distance on each charge.
The updated Xiaomi SU7 lineup includes three variants: Standard, Pro, and Max. The Standard version features a 73 kWh battery, the Pro model has a 96.3 kWh pack, and the Max version boasts a 101.7 kWh battery. Notably, these battery capacities have seen only minor adjustments—the Pro model increased by 2.0 kWh while the Max model grew by just 0.7 kWh. However, the range improvements tell a much more compelling story about the SU7's newfound efficiency.
Leading the way is the Pro variant, which can now travel 902 km on a single charge, a significant increase from the previous 830 km. This represents a remarkable gain of 72 km without necessitating a heavier battery. The Standard model achieves 720 km, while the high-performance Max variant improves from 810 km to 835 km.
Xiaomi attributes these enhancements to a superior powertrain. All models are now equipped with V6s Plus electric motors. Rather than merely enlarging the battery, Xiaomi has focused on optimizing energy utilization, resulting in a lighter and more intelligent vehicle. The Standard and Pro versions now incorporate a 752V high-voltage platform, a substantial upgrade from the former 400V system. Meanwhile, the Max version features an impressive 897V platform, positioning it among the industry's leaders in charging speeds.
Every new Xiaomi SU7 is now equipped with LiDAR and 4D mmWave radar, allowing the car to effectively monitor its environment. A powerful flagship computer chip processes this data, capable of executing 700 trillion operations per second. In terms of safety, the airbag count has been increased from seven to nine.
When you see one on the street, the new "Capri Blue" paint may catch your eye, featuring unique pigments for a deep, metallic finish. The front of the car has been subtly redesigned, integrating a new grille to accommodate the radar sensors while retaining its signature "waterdrop" headlights. Additionally, the new 20-inch wheels boast a staggered setup (with rear tires at 265 mm and front tires at 245 mm wide), complemented by bright red brake calipers for a sportier appearance.
Inside the cabin, updates abound. A new color option, "Dark Night Black," has been introduced, along with a revamped steering wheel. The dashboard and door panels now feature improved stitching and an updated layout.
Pre-orders have already commenced, with the SU7 anticipated to make its official debut in March. The first models will soon arrive at dealerships nationwide, with prices starting at RMB 229,900 (€28,000) for the Standard version, RMB 259,900 (€31,700) for the Pro, and RMB 309,900 (€37,800) for the top-tier Max model.
