The electric vehicle market is evolving rapidly, particularly in China, where new models are introduced frequently. Among them, the Next P7 from XPeng has generated considerable buzz.

Often, cars that appear stunning in promotional materials can disappoint in real life. Fortunately, the Next P7 proves that reality can surpass initial expectations. Launched in the bustling city of Guangzhou, China, this electric sedan competes with industry heavyweights like Tesla and Xiaomi by blending timeless design with futuristic technology.
Classic Design With a Modern Twist
At first glance, the Next P7 resembles a concept car that came to life. It features a long, wide frame and a low profile, measuring 5,017 mm in length and 1,970 mm in width, which gives it a commanding presence. With a height of only 1,427 mm, it boasts an aerodynamic drag coefficient of just 0.201 Cd.
The design draws inspiration from iconic vehicles, with a front reminiscent of the classic Ferrari 365 GTB Daytona, while the rear pays homage to Aston Martin and Jaguar. Notably, it includes elements reminiscent of the Porsche 911's “ducktail” spoiler, yet the XPeng manages to maintain its originality. For those seeking an extra touch of excitement, the Wing Edition features scissor doors akin to those found in Lamborghini models.
Futuristic Interior
The Next P7’s interior continues the technological theme. Upon entry, drivers are welcomed by a striking 15.6-inch center screen that tilts toward them when using voice control—a part of the car's advanced AI system. This interaction makes the screen feel more like a helpful co-pilot than just another device. Additionally, an impressive 87-inch augmented reality head-up display projects essential information onto the road.
The cabin is constructed from high-quality materials, including Nappa leather and microfiber suede, eschewing cheap plastics. The low, elongated seating position enhances the sporty vibe, yet offers ample space—thanks to a 3,008 mm wheelbase, rear passengers enjoy nearly a meter of legroom, along with an 8-inch screen to control the 23-speaker sound system and climate settings.
Powerful Performance
XPeng provides a variety of Next P7 configurations to cater to different driving preferences. The base rear-wheel drive model is equipped with a 74.9 kWh battery and a single electric motor generating 362 horsepower. This configuration can deliver up to 702 km of range on a single charge, according to Chinese CLTC standards. The car's weight is approximately 2,200 kg, varying with different versions. Utilizing an advanced 800V platform allows for rapid charging, with the capability of adding 525 km of range in just 10 minutes.
The Ultra Long Range variant enhances the battery capacity to 94.3 kWh, expanding the range to an impressive 820 km while maintaining the same motor configuration as the standard model. The performance version introduces a second motor, achieving a total output of nearly 600 horsepower, accelerating to 100 km/h in just 3.7 seconds, and reaching a top speed of 230 km/h.
Intelligent Control
One of the standout features of the Next P7 is its voice-command functionality, allowing users to change the temperature, set navigation, or even order food just by speaking. The flagship model integrates three proprietary Turing AI chips, providing an impressive 2,250 TOPS of processing power—three times that found in a typical Tesla.
Additionally, the car implements a “Vision-Only” driving assistant that relies on 11 high-definition cameras for navigation instead of costly laser sensors. This technology enables the vehicle to park itself, change lanes, and navigate through busy city streets independently, even driving itself from the assembly line to the shipping area.
Affordably Luxurious
Perhaps the most striking aspect of the Next P7 is its pricing, starting at approximately $30,700 in China. Even the top-tier version, featuring scissor doors and all-wheel drive, remains competitively priced. In comparison to luxury European cars costing over €90,000, it becomes clear why the Next P7 attracts significant attention. XPeng has successfully created a vehicle that combines the allure of a high-end supercar with a price accessible to a broader audience.
The Next P7 seamlessly merges classic automotive aesthetics with cutting-edge artificial intelligence while remaining reasonably priced. XPeng has already introduced its P7+ variant to the European market and made the G6 electric SUV available throughout the continent. This raises the question: could the Next P7 be the next model to make its mark internationally? We hope there is sufficient demand for XPeng to consider a limited launch in other markets.
