OpenAI has officially launched its affordable ChatGPT Go subscription, initially introduced in India last August at INR 399/month. Since then, it has expanded to 170 countries and is now available in all markets where ChatGPT operates, including the United States.
In the U.S., ChatGPT Go is available for $8/month, while ChatGPT Plus and Pro subscriptions are priced at $20/month and $200/month, respectively. You can click here to view pricing and features for all ChatGPT plans in your region.
Alongside the global release of ChatGPT Go, OpenAI announced plans to begin testing advertisements in the U.S. within the coming weeks, targeting logged-in adults using the free and Go tiers of ChatGPT. The Plus, Pro, Business, and Enterprise plans will remain free of ads.
OpenAI assures that responses generated by ChatGPT will remain unbiased by advertisements, which will be distinctly presented and separate from organic answers. Additionally, conversations with ChatGPT will remain confidential and not accessible to advertisers.
Details on Advertisements in ChatGPT
OpenAI’s upcoming ad testing will involve displaying relevant sponsored products or services at the bottom of ChatGPT's responses, depending on the context of the user’s conversation with the AI. The image below illustrates potential formats for the initial ad placements.

ChatGPT users may encounter ads that allow them to ask questions directly related to their purchasing decisions.

“We’ll learn from feedback and refine how ads will be presented over time, but our commitment to prioritizing users and maintaining trust remains unchanged. By developing our ad platform with these principles, we can ensure our goals align with what users expect from ChatGPT,” OpenAI stated in a blog post.
“Our long-term vision is to create products that millions of people and businesses find valuable enough to pay for. Our enterprise and subscription services are already robust, and we believe that having a diverse revenue model, including ads, can contribute to making intelligence more accessible to everyone,” OpenAI added.
